Block mounting (or box framing) is the pasting of prints to hardboard and placed onto a hardwood "box", the sides of which are painted either black or white to complement the print. This allows the print to visually stand away from the wall. Images are usually printed on photographic paper (matt or glossy) and then adhered securely onto a wooden board with a vacuum press. Block mounting to 12mm MDF can create simple and effective displays. We use cost effective boards that are resistant to bowing, and thus good for short and long term display.
